Drive into the park via the West Entrance from West Yellowstone. The Madison River valley is gorgeous first thing in the morning — watch for elk and bison.

Wake up EARLY (5am) and drive to Lamar Valley — the Serengeti of North America. Wolves, bison herds, grizzly bears, pronghorn. Bring binoculars and patience. Dawn is the magic hour.
Tower Fall & Petrified Tree
Stop at Tower Fall for a quick hike to the waterfall viewpoint, then see the petrified tree — an ancient redwood turned to stone.
Mammoth Hot Springs
Drive north to the terraced limestone formations at Mammoth. The mineral deposits create an ever-changing landscape of white and orange terraces.
Yellowstone Day 3 — Grand Canyon of Yellowstone

The park's most dramatic scenery. Start at Artist Point for the classic view of Lower Falls — a 308-foot waterfall into a golden-walled canyon. Walk both the North and South Rim trails.
