Insurance: Comprehensive travel insurance with medical evacuation coverage is essential, as serious conditions may require transfer to Europe or the Gulf for treatment.
π Medication Restrictions
Egypt has strict controls on narcotics and psychotropic substances. Travelers should carry all medications in original packaging with a doctor's letter in English listing generic drug names and dosages. For controlled substances (stimulants, strong painkillers, benzodiazepines), carry the original prescription and consider obtaining a letter from the Egyptian consulate or Ministry of Health before travel. Penalties for possession of undocumented controlled drugs can be severe, including imprisonment.
