Private hospitals in Quito and Guayaquil provide adequate care for most conditions. For serious conditions, medical evacuation to the US or Colombia may be necessary. Galápagos Islands have very limited medical facilities.

Insurance: Travel insurance with medical evacuation coverage is essential, especially for Galápagos travel. Altitude sickness is a concern in Quito (2,850m) — allow acclimatization time.
